Clasara Oil is produced utilizing a cold press process. The seeds are put into a press and the oil is squeezed, or pressed out. The oil is then left to settle and then bottled. This varies from many commercial oils that use the petroleum chemical hexane to extract the oil from the seeds. Refined oils are de-gummed, de-pigmented through clay or charcoal, and clarified by deodorizing under high heat. This processing can destroy healthy antioxidants.
Because our sunflower oil is unrefined, you may detect a white substance at the bottom of the bottle or in cold weather the oil may appear to be a bit cloudy. This is due to the natural wax that is found in a sunflower seed and there is nothing wrong with the oil. We believe this is a beneficial wax that should stay in the oil with the other valuable nutrients.
